Support Stolen Tools in Our Vision for Equitable Knowledge Sharing

Stolen Tools is not just another journal; it's a transformative force in the world of academic publishing and education. Our mission is to break down barriers and amplify the voices of academics, students, campaigners and non-academics from racialised minorities. In doing so, we aim to open up new avenues for research dissemination, access to higher education and recognise diverse forms of knowledge. Details on our publishing principles and crowd-sourcing model are below.

We need your support to make this vision a reality and we're asking for solidarity subscriptions to Stolen Tools. You can donate to Stolen Tools via this link. If you do choose to make a donation please let us know in advance so we can have a chat and thank you for it!

  1. Promoting Diamond Open Access: We're committed to the concept of diamond open access, where research is not hidden behind paywalls or profit-driven models. It's about making knowledge universally available, and your support helps us achieve this goal.

  2. Innovative Crowdfunding Model: Stolen Tools operates on an innovative crowdfunding model, seeking small solidarity subscriptions from libraries nationwide and beyond. This approach enables us to remain independent and promote diverse forms of knowledge.

  3. Solidarity Subscriptions: Any contribution from £100 to £5000 a year is immensely valuable. As a token of our appreciation, we can send physical copies of our issues and organise an open access event for your library or university team.

  4. Challenging Profit-Driven Journals: By supporting us, you contribute to the disruption of the for-profit journal model dominated by big publishers with significant profit margins. We believe that research should serve the common good, not corporate interests.

  5. Global Solidarity: Our plans include having libraries in high-income countries subsidise solidarity subscriptions for lower-income countries, fostering international collaboration and knowledge exchange. If you make a donation, you can choose to match this for a partner group in a lower-income country that you will be connected with.

  6. Let's Have a Conversation: We're here to engage with you. If you're considering donating or have questions about our mission, reach out to us. We'd love to chat and provide more information.
